☰ → Translate this page… (next to Ask local AI… and Check this site's safety…) reads the visible text of the page you're on and asks your local Ollama model to translate it, streaming the result into the same AI panel used for Ask and Summarize.

Choosing the target language

☰ → Settings → Local AI → Translate into picks what language the page is translated to: English (the default), Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or Arabic. The choice applies the next time you use Translate this page… and is remembered after that.

Long pages

A very long page is truncated to a conservative length before being sent to the model, so the end of a long article may be cut off. This is a one-shot translation of what's currently on the page, not a full document-translation tool.

What's sent, and to where

Only the current page's visible text is sent — to your own local Ollama instance (127.0.0.1), the same on-device-only guarantee as the rest of Local AI (see Summarizing search results and asking questions). Nothing leaves your device, and nothing is sent anywhere until you click Translate this page…. This needs Local AI turned on and Ollama installed — see Setting up Local AI.

Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic aren't offered in Spell check — Chromium's spellchecker has no dictionary for them — but all three work fully here, since translation runs through the language model rather than a fixed dictionary.
